The Montana Department of Transportation proposes repairs to two aging bridges on Highway 2 near Troy and invites comments from the public on both. The repairs are tentatively scheduled for 2020, a news release states.

One bridge crosses the Yaak River about 8 miles northwest of Troy and was built in 1934, the other crosses the Kootenai River Railroad about 2 miles northwest of Troy and was built in 1942.

“The proposed work includes cleaning and painting of steel surfaces, repair of areas with section loss, crack repair and repair of bearings,” the news release states. “The purpose of the project is to repair and protect steel elements to extend the life of these bridges. No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.”
