An explosion and fire burned a Libby trailer to the ground Monday morning, while a resident made it out of the dwelling without harm.

The Libby Volunteer Fire Department was called to a trailer fire on Fifth Avenue at 7:15 a.m. Monday.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined and is currently under investigation.

According to Libby Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Scott Beagle, when the 14 firefighters responded to the scene, all occupants were accounted for, but the home was fully alight.

“The trailer was fully engulfed before we got there, so it was a defensive fight,” Beagle said.

According to Beagle, the occupant said he was in the home when he heard some type of explosion and immediately called the fire department.

The trailer was completely destroyed in the fire, Beagle said.
