Much attention has been paid this election cycle to the presidential race but a couple of local races may have a more direct impact on the lives of Lincoln County and Montana residents. Those races include the Lincoln County District Court Judge position and the open Montana Supreme Court seat.

Many of my family and friends who are not familiar with the Montana Judiciary ask me who I am voting for this election. I tell them that I’m voting for Matt Cuffe for Lincoln County District Court Judge and Dirk Sandefur for the Montana Supreme Court.

I worked with Matt Cuffe when I practiced law in Missoula and I know Matt to be a talented, experienced and well respected attorney. Matt has experience in all areas of the law, and I am confident he will be a fair, balanced and impartial judge.

I also worked with Dirk Sandefur when I practiced in Great Falls. Dirk is a former police officer in Havre, a former prosecutor and he is not a “lenient, liberal judge” as falsely portrayed in a recent dark money mailer. In addition to serving as a public defender and deputy county attorney, Dirk has been a respected District Court judge in Great Falls for over 13 years. He is endorsed by all the retired Montana Supreme Court Justices and he will be a welcome addition to the Montana Supreme Court.

Matt Cuffe and Dirk Sandefur have earned and deserve my vote.
