Card lock coming to Libby Shooting Range

Damage control. That’s what Lincoln County Commissioner Mark Peck wants to do.

Flyers were distributed over the weekend about a pending change at the Libby Shooting Range on Farm to Market Road, Peck said.

The flyers contained a little misinformation, he said, noting the county will not be charging a fee for a card lock user system.

After the change is implemented, those who want to use the range will have to sign an indemnification form and register for a card that one can swipe to enter the facility.

That change, along with others regarding signage and fencing, is being required by the county’s insurance company and the National Rifle Association, Peck said.

He noted that the land in question is U.S. Forest Service land and that the change is being requested by the county, not Libby Rod and Gun Club.
