93, of Libby

 

Gordon Alfred Lindsey, 93, born January 2, 1923, in Somers, an army veteran of WW II and longtime resident of Libby, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 29 in the Libby Care Center.

He was raised in the Flathead Valley and later served in the U.S. Army in World War II. Following his honorable discharge he returned to the Flathead Valley where he remained until coming to Libby in the late 1940s. He had a lifetime career with the J. Neils Lumber Company, St. Regis Paper Company and Champion International until his retirement. He was a long time member of the Lumber and Sawmill Workers Union.

He is survived by his sister Donna Dee Wittlake of Ronan; son Vincent (Donna) Lindsey of Winnemucca, Nev.; daughter Marsha (David) Kurle of Snohomish, Wash., and grandchildren Rebecca, Jonathan and Julie.

He is preceded in death by his wife Margaret; son Garry; daughter Loretta Dapkiewicz; brother Benny; sister Marie Mueller and his father John and mother and step-father Lorna and Bill Hilbird.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 5, at Schnackenberg and Nelson Funeral Home in Libby, with interment with rendition of full military honors at the City of Libby Cemetery in the Veterans’ section.
