The Kootenai National Forest and more specifically the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness Area are treasures of northwestern Montana.

What special places we were able to experience over the past two years. We joined the Montana Wilderness Association in 2013 and have been able to take advantage of numerous outings, and the chance to fall in love with wild areas.

Two special days for us were those spent in the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness Area. More specifically hikes with Ashley and Anthony South into Cedar Lakes and St. Paul Lake. Wonderful guides and wonderful experiences to see firsthand the diverse terrain of this pristine area.

We also ventured into the Bull River Valley with Brian Baxter and tracked the footprints of habitat in this remarkable valley. Exploring the Ross Creek Cedars and Kootenai Falls were all part of rounding out a memorable fall, spring and summer in the Kootenai National Forest.

We were excited to hear of the progress to preserve this special piece of Montana for future generations. Thank you to all involved in the Kootenai Forest Stakeholders Coalition for all your hard work.
