| June 24, 2016 12:57 PM

John G. Jellesed, 73, of Troy, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at his home after a long battle with cancer. His family and friends were with him until he went home to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born in Stanley, N.D., June 10, 1943 to Earl and Ethel (Sarff) Jellesed. They lived in White Earth until the family moved to Troy in 1954. John attended school and worked at his dad’s Mobile Station until he entered the U.S. Air Force in 1965.

John was stationed in Texas and Arizona while serving in the military. He was discharged in 1968 and decided to live and work in Scottsdale, Ariz. He returned to Troy in 1977. He had missed the mountains, hunting, fishing and camping.

John worked as a logger for St. Regis, Clifty View Nursery in Bonners Ferry, Idaho and for the Lincoln County Weed Department. He retired in 2008 due to health issues. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Charles, Ray and Chester, his parents Ethel and Earl and one grandson.

John’s greatest passion was serving his Lord and Savior at the Door of Hope Church in Troy. He was a true and faithful witness of what God had done in his life. His illness was making him weaker, but he still sat at the front door of the church handing out hugs and teasing the kids.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Gail; a brother Belvin (Karen), Troy; a sister Hazel, Granite Bay, Calif.; his cousin Raynard (Joan) Jellesed, Libby; two stepchildren Greta and Garrett; and many cousins, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the Troy Community Baptist Church in Troy. Arrangements are by Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home & Crematory in Libby. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.schnackenbergfh.com.
