After a neck-and-neck first half, the Lady Loggers pulled away from the visiting Lady Lions of Lincoln County High and successfully defended their home court, winning the battle 50-32.

The first half was a clinic in tough defense, with the ladies fighting for every possession and every point. The first quarter ended with Libby up just one point at 9-8. The second quarter was much the same, with Libby’s girls adding one bucket more than the visitors. The Lady Loggers took an 18-15 lead into the locker room at the half.

The tides turned in the second half, though, as the Lady Loggers came out with tremendous energy to start the third quarter. Holding the Lady Lions to just four points in the period, they poured in 13 points of their own to pull ahead by 12 as the quarter ended.

The girls didn’t ease up at all going into the final stanza, pouring in 19 more points to put the game out of reach. The Lady Lions turned up their offensive production, scoring 13 of their own, but the game was out of reach and the Lady Loggers emerged victorious.

“This was a good win for us,” said head coach Jim May. “A huge District game.  We were playing without Jayden Winslow, so other kids had to step it up a bit. They did.  We really had big contributions from our bench as well as our starters. Our defense was solid all night and our offense hit for 32 second half points.”
