The Lady Trojans successfully defended their home court against the Lady Bluehawks of Thompson Falls Saturday night. The girls fought their way to a 54-41 victory.

Head coach Justin Young said his team shot well and managed a win, despite not playing to their full potential.

“We shot the ball tremendously well the first half and for most of the game,” he said. “As a team we shot 50 percent from the field and were five of 10 from behind the arc. I was also pleased with our 2-3 defense. It was the best it has looked all year. As far as improving on things, there is not a single area that does not need work. The thing that probably stood out the most to me was our inability to jam cutters and allowing too many post entries. Overall, I was very pleased with our team’s performance. The great thing about the game was not only that we won, but we did so without playing anywhere near our best basketball. This team has a high ceiling to reach, and if they continue to work hard there is no doubt in my mind they will be a very tough team to play.”

Allie Coldwell led the team in scoring with 23 points on the night, but she was not alone. Allie Brown and Aurora Becquart both also reached double figures in the game, with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

The Lady Trojans have a tough weekend schedule coming up as they travel to Bigfork Friday and return home to face Ronan Saturday.

“This weekend we face two of the best teams in Western B in Bigfork and Ronan,” Young said. “We are really looking forward to this week’s slate of games. It will be a great assessment of what we need to do to better ourselves, and the areas we really need to improve on. It should be a fun week of basketball.”
