When the fire sirens wail in Libby, one local business becomes something akin to a ghost town.

Timberline Auto, owned by Terry Andreessen, is the daytime home of six current members of the Libby Volunteer Fire Department, but its association with the department goes back much further. Chief Tom Wood said he can’t remember a time when there weren’t firefighters in the department working at Timberline.

“Terry has always been great with the firefighters,” Wood said. “He’s always had some of our guys working there and he’s always been very supportive of them and of the department.”

In recognition of those years of support, the department honored Andreessen and his business Monday with a commemorative plaque.

“Our response times are fast, our ISO rating is great, our guys put in a lot of training hours and it makes our department successful,” first assistant chief Steve Lauer said. “A lot of that can be tracked directly back to Terry and his support.”

Andreessen said he is proud to be able to support the department.

“Timberline is proud to be able to do whatever we can to support the brave men of our volunteer fire department,” he said.
