At a short ceremony witnessed by community members, family, friends and law enforcement officers from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, Troy Police and the Libby Police Department, Troy Police Officer Chris Pape was promoted and named the first-ever sergeant in the Troy Police Department.

Troy Mayor Darren Coldwell said the position of sergeant was created in order to help alleviate some of Chief Robert McLeod’s administrative duties and allow him to be a more visible presence in the Troy community. McLeod said when the position was created, Pape was the logical choice for the promotion.

“Officer Chris Pape has worked for the Troy Police Department for two years,” he said. “Ever since his first day Chris has been eager to learn and become an efficient officer. He strives to serve the public with the best possible service he can offer. With his enthusiasm and dedication to the department and the public Chris will become Troy’s  first Sergeant.”

The promotion ceremony was held at the beginning of the Troy City Council meeting Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016.
