A local musician has received top honors by being selected to participate in a multi-state divisional band.

Libby High School junior and tenor saxophone player Sabra Hancock has been selected to play in the Northwest Division National Association of Music Educators All State Wind Band.

Hancock will join over 1,000 music students from Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Oregon, who were each selected to participate in one of the NAfME Northwest performing groups. These All-Northwest musicians were selected from over 4,600 students who auditioned to participate.

Hancock’s main instrument is the tenor saxophone, but she also plays a variety of instruments, including the flute, piano, guitar and she’s also dabbled with the trumpet and clarinet.

NAfME All-Northwest high school bands, orchestra and choirs will meet in Bellevue, Wash. on Feb. 16-19, where they will rehearse and perform in concert under the direction of world-renowned conductors.
