This week marked the last time County Commissioner Greg Larson of the Troy District would ever sit at the table during Lincoln County Commissioner meetings.

Greg Larson was appointed as the Lincoln County Commissioner for Troy back in 2014, when he replaced outgoing commissioner Ron Downey. Former commissioner Tony Berget and Mike Cole appointed Larson to the position out of the nine applicants they received.

Larson said that he enjoyed his time as a commissioner, despite the challenges he faced with the continually increasing state and federal government overreach in local affairs and trying to help create a budget in a county with decreasing revenue.

“I appreciate the opportunity to serve the people of Lincoln County,” Larson said. “I wish the incoming commissioner well. I know things are going to be challenging and we’re going to see some changes in the coming year, and I think [the county] will persevere.”

During his last meeting on Wednesday, Larson declared his last action as commissioner to allocate funds from the economic development fund to the local 4H to help with their upcoming leadership events.

Larson said that he looks forward to his retirement and spending time with his four, soon to be five grandkids.

“Just like with any job, you do the best you can, and that’s what I did,” Larson said.
