Lady Trojans basketball team is ready to take energy, experience and teamwork to the court this season.

Head Lady Trojans basketball coach Justin Young said that his team has a great attitude and work ethic.

“I think these girls have the potential to really do some good things,” Young said. ”If they take it one game at a time and come willing to work hard every practice and game, the sky’s the limit for them.”

With six seniors on the team and three juniors, the team is rich in experience. A few of them, have been playing varsity since they were freshmen, Young said. Many of the team members are also multi-sport athletes, allowing them to have a variety of experience playing together.

“These girls have been playing together for a while now so they know each other very well,” Young said. “So, that makes it pretty fun.”

Although Young believes that all of his players are key players, Allie Coldwell and Aurora Becquart were both first team all conference players last year, and Young said that Olivia Roach and Kaitlyn Downey are also showing promise.

Many student athletes signed up for basketball this year, with the biggest turnout they’ve had in many years with 20 girls coming out, Young said.

The team also tries to keep morale up together, Young said, and aren’t afraid to give each other constructive criticism.

“They got good chemistry,” Young said. “They’re good about lifting each other’s spirits and chewing each other’s butts when they need it.”

One of the areas they’re working on now is spacial awareness on offense and being consistent on every position on defense.
