William Louis Hanley, 68, of Tok, Alaska

Born March 15, 1948 to William (Bill) and Rita Zoette Hanley. Passed away May 7, 2016 as a resident of Tok, Alaska.

He leaves behind his mother (Rita), two sisters (Kitty and Kelly), two brothers (Brian and Pat), two daughters (Libby and RaeAnn) and a grandson (Marcus Edward).

Upon graduating Libby High School he attended Montana State at Bozeman for a short time, he then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. They quickly recognized his ability in technology and he became sergeant.

After an honorable discharge from the Marines he went back to MSU where he graduated with honors in Architecture. He studied some time in Glasgow, Scotland then returned to Penn State for a short period and on to the University of Florida where he received a Masters Degree in Regional Planning. He was hired to be city planner of Anchorage, Alaska. After his required year he joined a private firm and became their Regional Planner. From that firm 68 Indians hired him to handle their 800,000 acres to make their lives better. Bill loved this work and upgraded their village. This is where he lived to the very end.

Bill will be dearly missed as a son, brother, father, grandfather, friend and a great story teller.

Bill will be entered at Porthill, Idaho cemetery Sept. 5, 2016 at 1 p.m. Idaho time.
