Tammy Bragg will become one of the new special education teachers at Libby Elementary School this fall.

Bragg is originally from Troy and graduated from Troy High School in 1987. She has two adult children, a husband, Rick Bragg and one grandchild.

Beginning her education career working for Head Start from 2001 to 2008, Bragg said she knew then that she wanted to work in special education.

“My heart was telling me I really like that I can help students individually,” she said. Bragg also said that she enjoyed making an impact on her student’s lives by working with them one-on-one.

After working at Head Start, Bragg worked as a paraprofessional for five years, when she decided that she wanted to become a certified special education teacher. Bragg said that with her two children still in school, she didn’t want to leave home to get her certification, and decided to attend Western Governors University online to earn her kindergarten through eighth-grade education certification with a special education endorsement and focus.

Bragg took her first teaching job in Trout Creek School in 2013. She said she loved working at Trout Creek and appreciates the experience she gained working there, but earlier this year, she decided that she wanted to work closer to home and applied for the special education opening in Libby.

She said she’s excited to build relationships with the staff, students and parents.
