Logger tennis: Girls beat Hamilton, Troy; lose to Polson

The Lady Loggers opened up the 2016 season March 31, beating Hamilton and losing to Polson, but came back strong on Saturday with a shut-out win against in-county rival Troy.

Against Hamilton the Lady Loggers won six of seven matches. Kaylene Hudson beat Sarah Trihn 6-3, 6-1. Isabelle Martineau defeated Colleen May 6-1, 6-0. Sarah McBride took the victory against Kaylyn Homyak 6-0, 6-1, and Jillian Hawthorne fell to Gracie Kemp 1-6, 2-6.

In doubles action Jenna Barrick and Cloie Boardner took a 6-3, 6-3 win over Sophia Schmit and Teresa Trihn. Dani Hawthorne and Mehki Sykes beat Zoe Shinn and Emilee Mosbrucker 6-0, 6-1 and Jessika Jones and Marissa Wood went to three sets to beat Natasha Garrison and Mia Simatovic, 5-7, 6-4, 10-3.

The Lady Loggers struggled against the Lady Pirates of Polson, losing 0-7.

Kaylene Hudson fell 6-4, 0-6, 2-6 to Marlee Congdon, Dani Hawthorne dropped to Mollie Lemm, 1-6, 2-6. Mehki Sykes lost to Cassie Carlyle 1-6, 2-6 and Kristine Belista 1-6, 0-6.

In doubles, Jenna Barrick and Cloie Boardner dropped to Kyler Lundeen and Olivia Hewston, 6-7, 3-6. Sarah McBride and Isabelle Martineau fell 604, 4-6, 6-7 to Natalee Wheeler and Tessa Nunlist and Jillian Hawthorne and Jessika Jones lost to Jose Peterson and Hunter Tameke 2-6, 2-6.

The Lady Trojans only had three eligible players for their match with the visiting Lady Loggers, and ended up on the losing end of the scoreboard 6-0.

In singles action, Hudson defeated Allie Brown 7(5)-6, 6-1. Martineau beat Kaylee Stecher 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 and McBride knocked off Molly Walters 7(5)-6, 7(5)-6.
