The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a Department of Defense office dedicated to fostering a culture of support and value military service members in the private sector, brought the annual Boss Lift event to Libby Monday to showcase the skills of Montana’s National Guard and military reserve personnel.

The Montana Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve office is an all-volunteer organization which works with Montana employers to help promote employment and retention of military servicemembers, as well as provide support to those employers when servicemembers in their employ are away from work for military duty.

Three helicopters, two UH-60 Blackhawks and one CH-47 Chinook, flew into the Libby airport and picked up dozens of local employers and businesspeople to demonstrate the commitment, dedication and skill of Montana’s military reservists.

The aircraft left the Libby airport and flew around the valley, including a fly-over of the Libby Dam and an aerial tour of the Cabinet Mountains, returning to the airport.

The E.S.G.R. provides employers with information about regulations related to the employment of service personnel, as well as trainings and briefings about employment law. The group also functions as a liaison between employers and the military, acting as the private sector’s primary advocate within the Department of Defense.
