Terry Steiger

Terry Lee Steiger, “Lucky Lagger,” 48, of Troy, died on Monday Jan. 12, 2015, at his home in Troy. Terry was born July 22, 1966, to Wilbert and Irene Steiger in Bismarck, N.D. He moved with his family to Troy in 1967. He graduated from Troy High School in the class of 1984.

 His first job was logging at the age of 15. He worked odd jobs until the age of 18, when he started working for ASARCO.

 On Sept. 14, 1985, Terry married Tami Morse and in no time they had their first child, Julie Ann Steiger, March 25, 1986. Two years later they had their second child, Thomas Lee Steiger, Jan. 13, 1988. In 1997, Terry joined the Troy Volunteer Fire Department and was hired on with the Lincoln County Road Department. In 2014, due to asbestosis, he was forced into an early retirement. He enjoyed family, especially his grandchildren, friends, camping, Pepsi, Chevrolets, riding ATVs, mechanicing, mudding, pulling out Fords, being a fireman and walking the dogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Irene Steiger; a sister Evelyn and a brother Dale.

He is survived by his wife, Tami Steiger; daughter Julie Steiger; son Thomas Steiger; daughter in-law Hope Vandelden; grandson Jeremy; granddaughter Grace; brothers Butch (Jolene), Allen (Brenda), Raymond; brother-in-law Jim, sister Esther (Mike); grandfather-in-law Lester; mother- and father-in-law Christine and Ray; father-in-law Bruce; sisters-in-law Brenda (Roy) and Riana (Jon); brothers-in-law Jim  (Melissa), Jake (Misty), and Anthony (Ashley) and numerous nieces and nephews

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24th, 2015, at the Troy Community Baptist Church. A potluck reception will be held after services at the Troy church.  Arrangements are by Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby.
