The Lady Trojans dominated in their home game against Noxon’s Lady Red Devils 53-28 on Thursday, Dec. 17.

The Lady Trojans owned the court, scoring 14-3 against the Lady Red Devils in the first quarter. During the second quarter, Troy scored twice as many points as Noxon, ending the second half at 28-10.

When the Lady Trojans and Lady Red Devils switched baskets, Troy continued to dominate, ending the third quarter at 45-17. They went on to end the game with almost double Noxon’s score, though Noxon scored slightly more in the fourth, gaining 11 points compared to Troy’s eight.

Troy Girls’ Basketball coach Justin Young attributed the Lady Trojans’ victory to a well-executed plan.

“They were able to execute the game plan and create some nice shots for our posts down low,” said Young. “We also did a nice job of crashing the boards and creating second shot opportunities. The two post players had a big night.”

The Lady Trojans’ post players, sophomore Aurora Becquart and junior Alyssa Lewis scored 16 and 14 points, and 10 and 16 rebounds respectively.

Young said the  Lady Trojans worked hard on the defensive end, helping keep Noxon in check.

“The girls did a great job of jumping to the ball and protecting the basket,” said Young.
