Pierina Dodson

Pierina Giovanna Dodson, 91, a long time Libby resident, died Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at the Libby Care Center from natural causes. Pierina was born January 16, 1924, in Gorizia, Italy, to Umberto and Maria (Zorzenon) Amedeo. Pierina grew up and graduated from high school in Italy.  

Pierina married Roy Dodson, a soldier, on June 6, 1946, in Italy. She traveled to the United States as a war bride on the same ship as her husband. Pierina and Roy made their home in St. Maries, Idaho. In 1953, the couple moved to Libby. Pierina and Roy had one son, John. Pierina was a hard working lady and had worked for Libby Furniture for many years and also for the Libby Care Center. Pierina retired in 1988 and that same year, she and her son John made a trip to see her family in Italy. Pierina was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed collecting cook books, knitting, music, shopping and road trips with Marge Stickney. Pierina was preceded in death by her husband Roy and her son John.  

Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be Thursday August 20, 2015, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Libby.  Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday with Rosary at 7 p.m..
