Jon Reynolds

| August 18, 2015 9:06 AM

Jon Douglas Reynolds, age 67, of Libby, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 8, 2015.  He was born in Pasco, Wash., on Sept. 4, 1947, to Louis and Valda (Stone) Reynolds. Doug grew up in Benton City, Wash., and graduated from Ki-Be High in 1966. That very same year Doug met and married the love of his life, Ynocensia (Cindy) Rodriguez.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army to fulfill his life-long dream of becoming a paratrooper. While in the Army, Doug was deployed to Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division where he earned The Bronze Star of Valor and was awarded the Purple Heart in 1969.

Doug worked for W.R. Grace in Libby for more than 12 years and then became a long-haul truck driver.

As a grandparent, Doug invested a whole lot of love and time into his grandchildren, teaching them how to fish, play ball, shoot a gun and love life. He was their beloved “Papa.”  He was an avid flyfisherman and artfully tied his own flies.

To honor his fellow veterans he began to tie flies in the colors of the campaign medals to present to his fellow veterans. He proudly served as chaplain for the VFW Post 1548 in Libby.

Doug loved the great outdoors and often went fishing, hiking and hunting with his wife or with his buddies in his cherished Montana. He really enjoyed teaching the Jr. High Boys Sunday School Class at the Libby Assembly of God Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Louis E. Reynolds; sister, Annette Nine; nephew, Tyler Desart and cousin and best friend Sidney Moon.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy; his daughter, Sheila Brodaczynski; her husband, Charles; grandchildren Gabriella, Sophia and Isaiah, who were the “Lights of his Life;” his mother Valda Reynolds; siblings, Linda Alexander, Louis J. Reynolds and Lisa King and numerous other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 22, 2015, at the Assembly of God Church in Libby. Arrangements are by Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby. Online condolences and memories may be made to www.schnackenbergfh.com.
