William Blair, Jr., 75, of Libby

William “Bill” J. Blair, Jr., 75, passed away Saturday Sept. 13, 2014, at his home in Libby.

He was born Aug. 27, 1939, in Roseland, La., to William J. Sr. and Eva (Bettencourt) Blair. His early years were spent in Roseland where he attended school until moving to California in his early teens. He graduated high school in Weaverville, Calif., with the class of 1958.  

On Oct. 25, 1958, he married Wilma Chapman in Los Angeles, Calif. Bill was a licensed powderman and worked construction for many years. He worked on a number of dams around the country including Glenn Canyon Dam, Boundary Dam, Boulder Dam and Libby Dam. His work on the Libby Dam is what brought him and his family to Libby in 1966.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma.

Survivors include his children Bob (Kathy) Blair of Pendleton, Ore., and Julie (Steve) Johnson of Libby; sister Bonnie of Stockton, Calif.; four grandchildren Heather (Kory) Volkers, Megan Johnson, Ben (Casidy) Blair, and Kyle Blair; one great-grandchild, Beowulf Blair; and special friend Kay Bakken of Libby.
