Aug. 14

• A caller reported that a man was driving a yellow pickup at a high rate of speed on White Avenue. The vehicle leaves for a while and then returns, the caller said.

• A Libby police officer located a young girl who was listed as a runaway at Three Corners Trailer Park. The girl was taken to the detention center in Troy.

• Someone brought a laptop computer to the Libby Police Department after finding it underneath the bridge over Flower Creek near Rosauers.

• Someone on Spencer Road reported their neighbor’s “yapping dogs.” The dogs had been making noise since 5 a.m., the caller said.

• A City of Libby employee alerted police that a maroon Chevy Blazer had lost a tire and was dragging an axle on Louisiana Avenue, causing damage to the street. The driver was pulled over and given a citation for driving without proof of insurance.

• A caller reported that his neighbor had just witnessed a mountain lion kill a deer in his backyard.

• Someone who lives on Parmenter Drive reported that their home had been burglarized. A deputy arrived and determined nothing had been taken from the home.

• Someone called 911 to report that they had just picked up their daughter at the Troy juvenile detention facility and were driving away when the daughter jumped out of the vehicle. The daughter had been on a cell phone with her boyfriend just before jumping out of the vehicle. About an hour later, the daughter was located and reunited with her parents, who took the girl back to Kalispell with them.

Aug. 15

• A man was arrested at Troy City Park for trespassing and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• A woman called the Sheriff’s Office to report that she had lost her purse in the area of Leigh Lake by the Cherry Creek bridge.

• Someone reported that a driver with a car registered in California was passing in a no-passing zone on Highway 2 near Bear Creek.

• A man called dispatch to report that an individual was camping on his property on Pipe Creek Road and refuses to leave.

• Someone at a bar in Libby called 911 to request emergency responders to assist with a man who had a gunshot wound to his head. It was determined that the wound was self-inflicted. Ambulances responded to the scene from as far away as Eureka.

• Someone called 911 to report that he and his dog had just been attacked by two mastiffs at J. Neils Memorial Park. His dog was injured, but they were able to get away and run home.

• A parents said a blue Jeep with a woman driver swerved at her son while he was walking on Farm to Market Road near Frazey Loop. The woman and the man she was driving with both lifted their middle fingers at the boy as they passed.

• A caller on Education Way reported drag racing in the neighborhood.

• Christine Ann Haugen, 37, was arrested on a warrant for criminal possession of dangerous drugs.

• Stephen Patrick Wood, 39, was arrested and charged with shoplifting at Empire Foods.

Aug. 16

• A driver on North Central Road reported a child pointing a laser pointer at oncoming cars. This was not the first time the driver noticed such an event.

• Nathan J. Bache and Dino Maefau were arrested and charged with criminal endangerment.

•  Caleb Dean Swartzendruber, Natasha Jean Swartzendruber and David James Horelick were arrested and charged with burglary.

• John Clinton Alyea, 31, was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license.

• A caller reported a gold Camaro and a blue Corvette smoking their tires on Highway 2.

• Billy Ray Goodman, Jr., 35, was arrested and charged with assault.

• Paul Lewis Ekstedt, 23, was arrested and charged with assault.

Aug. 17

• A caller on Bethel Drive reported strangers knocking on her door late at night, again.

• A caller on Montana Avenue reported spotting a young man attempting to break into his car. The man was wearing a gray hoodie and black pants.

• Someone on top of Whiskey Hill reported two horses blocking the road.

• A husband on Montana Avenue reported his wife’s car was shuffled through last night. There was nothing taken, but the glove box was left open.

• A caller reported taking a walk in the Wilderness Plateau Area with his basset hound when another dog attacked the basset hound, causing a puncture wound and a serious gash to the stomach. The attacking dog did not appear be with a person.
