Betty Davis, 69, of Libby

| September 9, 2014 12:00 PM

Betty L Davis, 69, passed away Sept. 3, 2014, at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center in Libby, after a two-year battle with lung cancer.

Betty was born on July 7, 1945, Fairview to Isaac Clarence and Ruth Margaret (Baxter) Robins. She was the second of nine children. When she was 15 years old, the family moved to Troy, where she later met and married Charlie Davis in 1963, beginning a marriage that lasted more than 51 years. They had two children, Teri and Kelly.

Betty loved to bowl and spent several years bowling on leagues in Troy. She liked to crochet and put jigsaw puzzles together and worked as a bartender in several bars in Troy and Libby. Her last job was working as a housekeeper at the Libby Care Center for 11 years until she retired. She enjoyed visiting with the care center residents as she cleaned their rooms.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her three granddaughters. She loved kids and babies. She was always playfully teased about her famous name because of the song, "Betty Davis Eyes."

Betty was preceded in death by her son Kelly Gene Davis, her parents, and brothers Larry and Dellas Robins.

Survivors include her husband Charlie Davis of Troy; daughter Teri (Davis) Benefield of Libby; granddaughters Kelsi Benefield of Libby, Holly Benefield of Auburn, Wash., and Brianna Benefield of Libby; great granddaughter Lynn Bush of Libby; brothers Orville, Lester, Darvin and Dennis Robins; sisters Sally Gillette and Edna Neely; and several nieces and nephews. She was waiting for her second great-granddaughter, Emma Williams, who is due in November in Auburn, Wash.

A public viewing will be held from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, 2014, at Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.schnackenbergfh.com.
