Richard Johnson, 84

| September 2, 2014 10:20 AM

Richard Dale Johnson died Aug. 23, 2014, at the age of 84. He was born Aug. 15, 1930.

He was a scholar, soldier, veterinarian, sheep rancher, mycologist, devoted husband, loving father, fisherman and steadfast friend. In his life, Dick pursued many interests with a steady dedication that made him successful in every task he undertook.

He is survived by his daughter Sandra Kock, his son Kermit Johnson, and his grandson Jason Foley.

Dick had a terrific sense of humor and an unswerving sense of justice. Once when adjudicating a squabble between his children, he approached the situation with his customary calm and logic. “Okay you two, we’ll flip a coin. Heads, Sandy does the dishes. Tails, it’s Kermit. And if it lands on its edge they’re mine.”  It did and he did.

Thoughts of him make us smile through our tears. He will be greatly missed.
