Libby junior golfer Jonny Cielak had a season to remember. A streak of four consecutive tournament wins preceded his third-place finish at the divisional tournament. Heading into the state tournament, Cielak had his sights set high.

Top honors were not in the cards this year, however, as Cielak finished 16th with a two-day total of 166 at the Hamilton Golf Club. Teammate Luke Adamson finished with a 186. Lily Feeback, the only Libby girl to qualify, finished with a 216.

Hamilton won the boys’ team title. Anaconda’s Caleb Stetzner walked away with the individual title after a two-day total of 147.

Whitefish took the girls’ team title. Coral Schulz’s 171 led her team to the championship and also earned her individual honors on the par-72 course.

Cielak hit his winning streak as the conference regular season schedule wound down. His wins included a home victory during the Libby Invitational at Cabinet View Golf Club. Cielak’s 77 bested Whitefish’s Cole Turgeon by three strokes.

Earlier this year, Libby Coach Dann Rohrer said the best thing about juniors is that they come back as seniors. In addition to one more year from Cielak, the golf team is eagerly awaiting the arrival of accomplished eighth-grade golfer Ryggs Johnston. Cielak said he is looking forward to playing with Johnston next year.
