Lincoln County Libraries announce December events

The Lincoln County Public Library in Libby will present a full calendar of programs in December. All events are free and open to the public.

The Libby library will host story time for preschool-age children at 10 a.m. every Tuesday.

The Troy library will host story time for preschool-age children at 11:15 a.m. every Friday.

The Eureka library will host story time for preschool-age children at 11:30 a.m. every Thursday.

The Troy library will host chess games from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Saturday. All ages and experience levels are welcome. Bring yourself, a partner and your favorite board. We also have boards available, as well as a player/teacher/mentor and challenger. For more information, please call Kimberly at 295-4040.

Write a letter to a soldier overseas. Stop by the Libby library between Dec. 2 and Dec. 6 and write an uplifting holiday message to our service personnel overseas. We’ll provide the paper, writing utensils and make sure the letters get in the mail.

December 2

Libby Friends of the Library will meet at the Libby library at 6 p.m. If you’re interested in becoming a library volunteer, please stop by and introduce yourself. It’s a great way to meet new friends.

Eureka Friends of the Library will meet at 11 a.m. at the Eureka library. If you’re interested in becoming a library volunteer, please stop by and introduce yourself. It’s a great way to meet new friends.

The After-School Program for ages 6-12 will meet at 4 p.m. at the Libby library. The group will make their own lava lamps.

Troy Friends of the Library will meet at 4 p.m. at the Troy library. If you would like to volunteer at the library, please stop by and introduce yourself. We’ll be decorating for the holiday season.

December 4-6

Stop by the Troy library for the holiday open house celebration. Treats and beverages will be provided.  

December 5

The Libby Friends of the Library will hold a book sale from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. The entrance is on Main Street, across from the post office.  Stop by and check out the books, movies and music. It’s a great way to support your library and buy some holiday gifts.

December 10

The After-School Program for ages 6-12 will meet at 4 p.m. Join us at the library and build your Lego creation. After we’re done, we’ll display them in the library for all to see.

December 13

Samir Bitar, a linguist, historian and professor at the University of Montana, will present “Perspectives on Islam” at 1:30 p.m. at the Eureka library. Bitar uses literature, film and other resources to familiarize audiences with the heritage of Islamic civilizations around the globe and the religion of Islam. The event will be held at the Glacier Bank meeting room. This event is sponsored by a grant from Hometown Humanities.

December 17

The After-School Program for ages 6-12 will meet at 4 p.m. Join us at the library as we build and test paper airplanes. Find out if you can design the plane that flies the farthest.

December 20

The Library Board will hold a meeting at 11 a.m. at the Troy library.

December 24

The libraries will close at 2 p.m.

December 25

The libraries will be closed.

December 26

The last Friday of every month is Amnesty Day at the Lincoln County libraries.  Any materials less than 90 days overdue which are returned in good condition to any of the three libraries on that day will have all penalties waived. Overdue inter-library loan materials are not included.

December 31

The After-School Program for ages 6-12 will meet at 4 p.m. Join us as we celebrate Game and Puzzle week by making our own puzzles at the library. Stop by and make a puzzle to take home or take to a friend.
