Benson, Bowe, Peck, Sheffield winners in local races

Robin Benson will be the new Lincoln County Clerk and Recorder after defeating incumbent Tammy Lauer during a compelling Tuesday election.

Incumbent Jay Sheffield will serve as the newly unified Justice of the Peace after defeating fellow incumbent Stormy Langston. 

Lincoln County Sheriff Roby Bowe retained his position after warding off an impressive write-in campaign from Darren Short and a challenge from Bill Clark. 

Mark Peck cruised to victory against fellow challenger Russ Bache. Peck will assume the position formerly held by incumbent Commissioner Tony Berget. 

Benson defeated Lauer by 203 votes out of more than 7,000 ballots. Benson won with 3,622 votes. Lauer had 3,419.

Sheffield won by 452 votes. He earned 3,651 votes while Langston got 3,199. 

Bowe won with 675 more votes than ballots cast for write-in candidates. Bowe got 2,925 votes. There were 2,250 write-in votes. Clark received 1,987 votes.

Peck earned 4,618 while Bache earned 1,812. 

Official numbers are yet to be verified. These numbers were the first complete totals representing all 14 precincts in Lincoln County.
