Stanley L. Potter, 74, of Troy

Stanley L. Potter, 74, of Libby died Monday, March 10, 2014, at his home.  

Stan was born May 4, 1939, in Thompson Falls to Roy  and Evelyn (Rogers) Potter. Stan entered the U.S. Navy on June 6, 1956, and was honorably discharged on Jan. 30, 1958.  

Stan met the love of his life, Mavis Shelley, in 1957. The two were married in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Aug. 16, 1958. They lived in Eureka and Rexford before finally settling in Libby in 1961.  

Stan worked for J. Neil’s Lumber Co. and Champion International.

Stan’s wife Mavis, his son, Jerry, and three brothers Arnold, Richard and Ron preceded him in death.

Survivors include a nephew Justin Shelley of Washington; a sister Betty Jamison of Troy; two sisters-in-law Rosalie Countryman of Eureka and Grace Bock of Rexford; a brother-in-law Dennis Shelley of Washington and  special friend Gerry Irish.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Libby Christian Church.  

Local arrangements are under the care of Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby.
