| March 21, 2014 9:28 AM

Betty Mae Henderson was born March 26, 1924, in Billings. She spent her childhood in Libby.

After completing high school in Libby, Betty went on to nursing school at Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Spokane, Wash. Upon completion of her nursing education, Betty moved to Salt Lake City where she worked as a nurse during the polio epidemic.

She then moved to Henderson, Nev., where she met the love of her life, Howard “Bud” Henderson. They married Nov. 8, 1948,  and moved to Phoenix, Ariz.,  where Bud’s family lived.

They moved to the Portland, Ore. area in 1963.

Upon retirement Betty and Bud moved to Ocean Park, Wash., where they enjoyed long walks on the beach, looking for shells, beautiful sunsets and visits from family and friends.

Betty continued to live in Ocean Park for two years after Bud’s death and decided it was time to be closer to family. She moved to Albany, Ore., and lived in her home in the Mennonite Village until her death, Jan. 30, 2014.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bud, and her brother, Paul Warrington.

She is survived by her three children, Steve Henderson of Redmond, Wash., Kathryn Henderson of Albany, Ore., and Mary Henderson of Mountain View, Calif.; her sister-in-law, Ann Warrington; her brother- and sister-in-law, Marshall and Pat Warrington, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Melvin and Vivian Clayton; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Betty was a wonderful, kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

There will be a private family service in the spring.
