LHS talent show

set for March 18

The annual Libby High School Talent Show will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, at the Memorial Center.

The event, which is free to the public, will feature the many talents of Libby High School students.

Astronomy club

meets this Friday

The Kootenai Stargazers Astronomy Club meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, March 21.

The public is invited to come for chow and chatter at 6 p.m., for brain teasers and then a video presentation by Ed Murphy. Professor Murphy’s topics will include using binoculars and backyard telescopes and observing the moon and the sun.

U Serve Libby plans

special tennis day

Libby’s local tennis proponent, U Serve Libby, is joining the U.S. Tennis Association in celebrating World Tennis Day.

World Tennis Day was March 3, so on March 21 the local club is hosting a special event.

To take part in the activities going on throughout the month all across the nation, U Serve Libby is planning a Play Event from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 21. It will be at the Libby Community Tennis Courts on East Spruce Street, near the Montana Athletic Club and City Hall.

If it rains, the event will be moved to the Libby Elementary School gym.

 Tennis coaches Kyle Hannah, Terry Oedewaldt and Dave Nelson will be organizing the activity, which is geared toward children 9 years and up and adults of all ages.

Families are encouraged to participate. If players have a racket, bring it. Otherwise, there will be rackets available for use that day.

Nordicfest event

tickets available

Tickets for the 2014 Nordicfest Coronation Dinner on Saturday, April 5, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Community Room are now available.

Persons wishing to attend need only purchase them from the Libby Area Chamber of Commerce, the Venture Inn or from any Nordicfest Committee member.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Nordicfest.

Baseball signup

Little-league baseball registration is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 17, 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 19 and 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 26.

All signups are at Libby Elementary School.  

Starting age is 4 years old by March 30.

Equestrian group

will hold tack sale

The Kootenai Valley Equestrian Group will hold a tack sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at Kootenai Valley Christian School.

This will be an opportunity to sell unwanted tack or to purchase needed supplies.

There will be breakfast, lunch and other goodies provided by the Christian School for a donation.
