Linda Parker, 73, of Libby

Linda M. Parker, 73, died May 22 at her home in Libby. Linda was born at Modesto, Calif. on March 29, 1941, to Custer and Edith Logan and was raised and educated there. She later attended college there as well, receiving a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She married Lonnie Parker in 1955, and the two lived all around the world during his military career.

Following her husband’s retirement from the military, they resided in Oregon where she received a master’s degree from Southern Oregon University. She worked as a youth drug and alcohol counselor and life skills counselor in Oregon. She and her husband came to Libby in 2001 where she had since made her home. While living here, she was an active volunteer for Crises Solutions and the Community Thrift Store and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Her husband preceded her in death in 2010.

Surviving her are her children, Wylon Parker and wife Kelli of Whitefish, Markus Parker of Vancouver, Wash., Mark Smith and wife Corrina of Monroe, Wash.; and many additional “children of the heart;” her sister, Nancy Beiter of Winston, Ore.; and grandchildren Shyanne, Ashlynn, James, Emma, Skyler and Grayson.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 6 at Christ Lutheran Church. Entombment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery Columbarium at Kent, Wash.
