Libby schools

offer free lunches

Libby Public Schools, in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Summer Food Service Program, will offer free, nutritious meals to children age 18 or younger. Adults can buy breakfast for $2.25 and lunch for $3.75.

Breakfast will be available at Libby Christian Church vacation Bible School at 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. June 9 through June 13. Lunch will be available noon to 12:30 p.m.

Libby Elementary School will offer meals June 9 to June 26, Monday through Thursday. Breakfast will be served 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and lunch will be served noon to 12:30 p.m.

Kooteani Valley Christian School will offer meals June 9 to July 31, Monday through Thursday. Breakfast will be available 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and lunch is served noon to 1 p.m.

The Libby Lunch Bunch Association will hold a 2:45 p.m. meeting at the Central Administration Building on 724 Louisiana Ave. The Libby Paraprofessionals Association will meet at 3:45 p.m. in the same location.

Blood drive set

for VFW on June 19

 The American Red Cross will host a blood drive from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. June 19 at the VFW building at 114 W. 2nd St.

Women on Target to

host novice course

The Women on Target will host a beginner handgun course, for women only, at the Yaak Rod and Gun Club on June 14, from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. The course is presented by the Yaak Rod and Gun Club also. The course will have a limited class size, so pre-registration is recommended.

The course is a hands-on class, where students will learn to handle, load, unload and fire a variety of guns.  The course will be a friendly atmosphere and is focusing on learning about different handguns and shooter safety. Lunch will also be provided.

Army Corps hosting

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is hosting a Libby Dam annual operations public information meeting 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. June 11 at the Lincoln County Credit Union.  

Representatives from the Corps will discuss water supply forecasts, Libby Dam operations, and Libby Dam and Corps recreation opportunities.

Members of the public, officials and stakeholders with an interest in Libby Dam are encouraged to attend and learn more about dam operations.

Libby Library to

host several events

At 6 p.m. June 3, the Libby Friends of the Library will meet at the Libby Library. Joining the Friends of the Library is a great way to volunteer and help your library.

The Libby Friends of the Library are having a book sale 10 a.m.-5 p.m. June 6. The entrance is on Main Street across from the post office. Stop by and check out the books, movies and music CDs.

The after-school program for children ages 6-12 will teach kids about simple machines at 4 p.m. June 11 by making a balloon car.
