Elizabeth S. Baker passed away at age 96 of July 4, 2014, at Libby Care Center. She was born July 24, 1917 on the family farm in Lewis County, Mo., to Jenny Isobel Reiter and Martin Lawrence Schaefer. She was the oldest of four siblings.

Betty married Ernest F. Baker on Nov. 22, 1939 in Quincy, Illinois. They had two daughters, and were married 42 wonderful years, until Ernie’s death in 1981. Shortly after, Betty moved to Arizona where she enjoyed an active retirement travelling, golfing, doing arts and crafts and spoiling grandchildren. She made once-a-year trips to Montana, so she could spoil those grandchildren growing up there.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Gladys and Norma Jean and her husband Ernie. She is survived by her brother Larry Schaefer and wife Barb of Hot Springs, Arkansas; daughters, Amy Bumpass and husband David of Arizona; Becky Stovall of Libby; six grandchildren: Kelly, Jeff, Robin, Sherry, Ryan and Ethan; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services and interment will be held at a later date in Canton, Mo. Local arrangements by  Schnackenberg  Funeral Home.
