| January 24, 2014 9:49 AM

Cameron Mitchell Goins, 47, of Libby, died in a tragic snowmobile accident the morning of Jan. 18, 2014.

He was born June 7, 1966,  to Bobby Charles and Ola Belle (Joy) Goins in Olympia, Wash.

Cameron graduated from South Salem High School in 1984 and shortly after joined the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly served in a Marine detachment on the USS Enterprise from 1984 to 1986 and was honorably discharged in 1988. He then served in the Army until 1990.

He moved to Troy and started working as a seasonal employee with the U.S. Forest Service and a few years later moved to Libby and became a full-time employee until the time of his passing.

Cameron enjoyed fighting fires and took great pride in this job at the Forest Service. To him, it wasn’t about getting recognition for saving homes and forests, it was just what he did.

Cameron volunteered for many organizations, including Troy Volunteer Ambulance, Lincoln County Sno¬Kat Club and David Thompson Search & Rescue. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, bowling, boating, camping and snowmobiling. He was well-respected and loved in both Libby and Troy.

Cameron is preceded by his grandparents, Leonard and Isabelle Joy; and his mother, Ola Belle (Joy) Kratzer.

He is survived by his girlfriend, Jennifer Culpepper; daughter, Brittany Logan; daughter, Katelyn Bitterman; sisters, Becki Garrison of Arkansas, Viola Brooks of Wisconsin, Kaloa Real and Jessica Ovalle; and a brother,  Jeff Goins of Oregon; grandchildren, Makaenzie, Tristin and Hayden; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
