Ronald Smith

| December 5, 2014 10:17 AM

Ronald “Ron” Dean Smith, age 69, passed away with family by his side on Nov. 24, 2014 in Post Falls, Idaho. He was born in Gridley, Calif., on Feb. 3, 1945, to Arnold and Orpha Smith and raised in Libby alongside his siblings. He is survived by his brothers Terry and James; and his sisters Barbara, Patricia, Mary and Charlene.

Ron joined the Army at age 16 by lying about his age. After his service, he tried his hand at several trades, but always went back to the trucking industry where he spent over 40 years driving and eventually became a broker agent for other truckers.

Preceded in death by his son Sean Smith, he is now survived by his wife Mary, sons Ronald and Robert, daughters, Renee, Amanda and Shannon Smith and youngest son Aaron LaBrie.

We are thankful that his suffering has ended and he is finally at peace. He did not want to go out with fanfare, but in honor of his life we ask that you truckers honk your horn and family and friends raise a glass in his memory. He will be sincerely missed.
