Health Fair 2014

| April 8, 2014 3:01 PM

An estimated 500 people attended the Healthy Discoveries health fair Saturday at the Memorial Center.

Sponsored by Cabinet Peaks Medical Center, the event featured 75 display tables that featured 60 vendors.

“It was steady all day long,” said Cabinet Peaks Medical Center Director of Marketing Kate Stephens. “We had good weather. Kids were able to experience the smokehouse and MedStar from Spokane was there and so was Life Flight from Sandpoint.”

The smokehouse is a Libby Volunteer Fire Department trailer that mimics an actual fire as children learn proper technique for exiting a smoke-filled room. MedStar is an ambulance provider and Lifeflight is a helicopter-ambulance service.

The Cabinet Peaks Healthy Discoveries Fair celebrates health and wellness with the community by providing reduced-cost and free screenings and bringing together a wealth of information from organizations across the region as well as the departments at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center.

Among the booths and fair exhibits were related displays and activities featuring healthy food options, home safety, the effects of drugs and alcohol and tobacco prevention.
