BUTTE — The Nature Conservancy of Montana has donated about 40 acres of land to the U.S. Forest Service to add to the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest.

Jim Berkey of The Nature Conservancy tells the Montana Standard that the donation will help the federal agency protect important wildlife habitat.

Berkey also says it will improve public access and recreation opportunities.

The land is located in the Dry Creek Area about 10 miles northwest of Wise River.
