Memorial

Letter to the Editor,

All those that have made the Lincoln County Veteran’s Memorial a reality deserve all of our gratitude.

It is a monument that will speak to eternity of this generation’s appreciation of those who have served our country in times of war and peace. The fundraising goal is in sight, and I would encourage everyone to give to this worthy cause.

Here is how I would like to help:  Many great veterans have already been recognized with bricks, but there is a special honor due to those who lost their life while in military service to our nation. I would like to collect the names of those service members who lived in Lincoln County and died while on active duty in our country’s armed forces to ensure they are honored with a brick surrounding the memorial.

I have had a difficult time uncovering the names of those honored warriors and ask that anyone who knows names and service information of any Lincoln County man or woman who gave their all for their country, whether in combat or not, to send me that information at the email address below.

I will see that the memorial has a brick in their honor, if they don’t already have one.

If a friend or relative tells me they are going to see their loved one gets a brick, I will, of course, respect that wish. If anyone wants to help me pay for those bricks, I’d be happy to hear from you, too.  Thank you for all you can do for our veterans.
