A retired registered nurse, Kimberly Rowse wants to bring stability and cooperation to Troy City Council.
“I see Troy as a progressive little community,” Rowse said. “I just think local government has not been stable in recent years.”
Rowse says her ability to listen and collaborate can provide the level of stability she believes will reinvigorate local participation.
“As a nurse you have to see the situation as a whole,” Rowse said. “You have to listen. No situation is cookie cutter in the medical or political world.”
Rowse sees the solution to Troy’s unemployment through creative thinking. She knows logging and mining are not what they were and believes they never will return to prior levels.
She sees human resources as Troy’s most valuable asset.
“Both the people who live here already and the people we can bring in,” Rowse said. “Troy is a perfect bypass for a lot of people to Glacier. We need to attract those people.”
Rowse believes development of Callahan Trail could enliven economic activity in the area.
Born in Spokane, Washington, Rowse came to Troy in 1992 with her husband when her children were out of the house. She also raised a niece through the Troy school district. She is currently renovating Hotel Montana with hopes to reintroduce the business as a hostel.
Rowse cites her professionalism, experience as a grant writer for the CARD clinic and work as an administrator in the health field as expertise that differentiates her from other candidates.
“I have worked with a menagerie of people from different fields,” Rowse said. “I will be creative when it comes to finding funding sources for Troy. But more than anything I think my strongest skill is people skills. You have to give a little to get a little.”
