Clarence Azure, 83, of Libby

Clarence Azure, 83, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at his home in Libby.  

He was born April 7, 1930, in Belcourt, N.D., to Frank and Edna Azure.

He was raised in eastern Montana on a farm with his four brothers Irvin, Joseph, Wilmar and Fred.  

Clarence was exceptionally happy to have served his country in combat as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He served from 1955 to 1957 with an honorable discharge from active duty.

He met his future wife, Beneva, in South Dakota, and they moved to Libby in 1963 when he worked at the Libby sawmill.  

Clarence worked at the  sawmill for 26 years. In his retirement he loved hunting, fishing and going in the woods with his nephew Gene to get firewood.

He was awarded Senior Citizen of the Year because of his outstanding commitment to his community. He was also very active at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Libby Senior Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beneva; two brothers, Irvin and Joseph; and his parents.

Survivors include two brothers, Fred Azure of Froid, and Wilmar Azure of Fargo, N.D.; stepdaughter, Sharon, and adopted son, Bob Azure; niece, Karen Shuller; and nephew, Gene Azure; and his grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby.

A luncheon will follow at St. Joseph Parish Hall in Libby.  

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
