Anthony (Tony) Torres, Sr., 80, of Libby

Anthony (Tony) Paul Torres Sr., born May 13, 1933, in Libby to Esteniloy and Genevieve (Enders) Torres, went to his final resting place on Nov. 16, 2013.

Tony was the third of twelve children. The family lived in Warland and Old Rexford prior to moving to Eureka.

Tony married Shirley Truman in December 1953. To this union they welcomed children, Andy Torres, Billings; Rocky (Kathy)Torres, Oakley, Kan.; Sue Torres, Gillette Wyo.; Teresa (Chuck) Torres-Birgensmith, Eureka; and Barbara Ann Torres, Columbia Falls.

Tony raised his family working as a Montana logger for many years. Tony and Shirley later divorced.  

In 1974, Tony married June Clarke-Stevens. Tony and June later moved to Gillette Wyo., where they resided for 18 years. Following Tony’s retirement as a coal miner and June’s passing, Tony returned to Eureka.

In May 2003, Tony married Helen Sarver. Tony and Helen enjoyed their country drives as well as attending church services.

Tony’s family time was his life. He also enjoyed being in the woods, fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, traveling, playing pinochle and cribbage, and visiting with old friends over coffee at a local cafe.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents; his wife June; brothers Arnold Torres and Gary Torres; sisters Joyce Boone, Helen Ward and Kathy Setter; grandchildren Levi Flint, Angie Cioffi, Brenda, Slade and Dylan Groene.

Tony is survived by his wife Helen Torres; his children; siblings Don Farrell,  Smooth Rock Falls, Ontario, Canada, Rosemary (Ray) Gwynn, Joe Torres, Maggie King and Dee Dee Torres of Eureka; grandchildren Sam (Mark) Doble, Brandy (Phil) Hoagland, Misty Torres, Brooke (Jim) Spoklie,  Paul (Chelsea) Torres, Sara (Erik) Weber and Cole McCully;  step-children; step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Mountain View Manor for the excellent care provided over the past two years.

Viewing will be Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Eureka.

Church services will be at 11 a.m.  Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at The Church of God, with luncheon to follow, in Eureka.
