Raymond Ramel, 85, of Libby

Raymond P. Ramel, 85, a longtime resident of the Kootenai Valley, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at the Libby Care Center.  

He was born at Wascott, Wis., to Fred and Martha (Ploof) Ramel on March 6, 1928. He was raised and educated there.  He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

After his honorable discharge, Ray came to Libby where he had been employed at the mills. Later, he worked on the maintenance staff of Libby Public Schools for many years until retirement.

Ray found great enjoyment in the Montana outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.  

Preceding him in death were his wife,  Sally, and granddaughter, Carly Crismore.

Surviving him are his children, Mona Crismore of Libby, Sandi and Frank Widic of Colorado Springs, Colo., and David and Laura Ramel of Summerville, S.C.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  

Private interment is planned at the City of Libby Cemetery under the direction of Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home.
