Polls open at 8 a.m. in Libby and Troy

South Lincoln County residents will go to the polls Tuesday to choose two school board members to serve in each Libby in Troy.
In both races, three candidates seek to fill two positions, and each race includes an incumbent.
In Libby, incumbent Les Nelson seeks to hold on to the seat he has held for three years. Also running are John Carlson and Sarah Crace, who both have children within the district.
In Libby, voters will decide whether they want to pay higher property taxes to support the district that has been downsizing for a number of years. In 2011, the district closed Asa Wood Elementary, and moved those students into the former middle school in the fall. The middle school students moved into a special wing of the high school.
In Troy, incumbent Doug Chapel hopes to retain the seat he’s held for three years as he faces challengers Mark Roesler-Begalke and Hy Boltz.
There are no issues on the Troy ballot other than the election.
In Troy, they are expecting about 50 percent of the ballots to be absentee, District employee Susan Duve said.
Election results are expected to be tabulated by 10 p.m., said Leigh Riggleman of the Lincoln County Clerk and Recorder’s Office.
In each community, there is just one polling place, which are the district adminstration buildings, at 724 Louisiana Ave. in Libby and 236 Spokane Ave. in Troy.
