Pete Erickson, 80, formerly of Libby

Pete Erickson, 80, passed away of asbestos-related mesothelioma cancer on Dec. 17, 2012, in Edmonds, Wash., where he recently moved to be closer to his daughter.

Erickson was born in Bemidji, Minn., on July 8, 1932, to Clarice and Hjalmar Erickson, one of three children. 

He came to Libby after service in the U.S. Army and was employed as an electrician at J. Neils Lumber Co., St. Regis Lumber Co., and Champion International Lumber Co. for 37 years.

He leaves behind his wife, Loretta, daughter JoLisa Erickson, sons, John Erickson, Kalispell, and Kevin Woodin of Billings. 

He had several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

At his request no services were scheduled, and he simply requested that his ashes be scattered at a life celebration in Sierra Vista, Ariz., where he lived in retirement for several years.
