Daniel B. Dedman, 50, formerly of Libby

| December 27, 2013 9:54 AM

Daniel Blaine Dedman, loved brother, son and friend,  went to be with the Lord on Dec. 19, 2013, while in the care of the Kalispell Regional Medical Center after a short illness.

Dan was born in Missoula on Sept. 3, 1963, and was raised in the Flathead Valley. He is a graduate of Flathead High School and Montana State University where he studied agricultural economics. As a high school student, Dan was involved with a number of 4-H Clubs and the Flathead Chapter of the Future Farmers of America.

Dan worked with credit unions in several locations in Montana. In 1989, he moved to Libby to accept a position with Lincoln County Credit Union where his knowledge, talents and strong work ethic significantly impacted all of its affairs throughout his tenure.

Dan was deeply involved in the Libby community, demonstrated a servant’s heart and was known as a generous giver of his time and money.

Dan’s involvement included scorekeeper/statistician for Libby Logger baseball and basketball, Faith Bible Church AWANA leader, and UPWARDS basketball referee. Dan was a regular attendee at Faith Bible Church and Libby Christian Church.

He also volunteered his time filling a number of different committee assignments for the credit union’s statewide trade association.

Dan loved to root for the underdog and was a proud, but frustrated, supporter of Chicago Cubs baseball and the Montana State University Bobcats.

He enjoyed spending his spare time in the outdoors playing golf, photography and times spent with friends at Bull Lake. The remainder of his time was spent doting over the many rescue dogs he had adopted during the years.

Dan was preceded in death by his father, James Dedman, Jr., of Kalispell, and his canine wards “Cody” (the wonder dog), Izaak and Annie.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Dedman of Kalispell; brothers, David (Tiffiney) Dedman of Kalispell, Tom (Karla) Dedman of Anaconda; two nephews, Colter of Kalispell and Taylor of Anaconda; a niece, Chloe of Kalispell; and very special close friends, Chari and Frank Lucas of Libby.

Memorials in Dan’s name can be made to Kootenai Pets for Life, Pet Connection and Rescue, the Flathead Animal Shelter, or the charity of your choice.

A memorial service in Kalispell and a Celebration of Life in Libby will be announced at a later date.
