The Libby American Legion baseball team saw its first-round game at the state tournament rained out Thursday, but the well-rested Loggers went to work Friday as they beat up on the Helena Representatives, 14-8.

The hitting star for the Loggers was Jared Winslow, who because of an injury to his right pitching elbow will  not take the mound, but he was a one-man wrecking crew for the Loggers offensively on Friday, picking up six RBIs in the winning effort.

Oliver Grupenhoff and Andrew Haggerty picked up two RBIs apiece to help the Logger scoring parade. Luke Haggerty and Josh Foote also had RBIs for Libby.

The Loggers rudely treated the home team, amassing 13 hits en route to the victory. Helena was limited to just five hits against the pitching combo of Luke Haggerty, who got the win, and Micah Germany who spelled Haggerty in the final innings.

The tournament continues Saturday with the Loggers playing the winner of the Glasgow vs. Lethbridge game, which was not known.
