Clinton I. Hagen, 85, of Libby

Clinton Ives Hagen, 85, a longtime Libby resident, died from natural causes Tuesday April 9, 2013, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 23, 1927, in Zurich, Mont., to John and Audrey (Schwenka) Hagen. Clint grew up in Zurich and attended a small, country schoolhouse.  

Clint was in the back woods of Glacier Park when his 18th birthday rolled around. They came in and packed him out so he could register for the draft. It was then that he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in general MacArthur’s headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. 

Clint was honorably discharged on May 20, 1947.  Clint returned to Montana where he found employment with the Great Northern Railroad in Great Falls. He met Eloise Holum and they were married in 1953. The family moved to Libby in 1956. 

Clint was a wonderful husband and father.

Survivors include his wife, Eloise Hagen of Libby;  three children, Cheryl (Al) Abrahamson of Libby, Cindy Williams of Libby, Ivan (Julie) Hagen) of Libby; three grandchildren, Christopher (Tana), Kirstin (Lazare) and Skyler; eightgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Doerschlag of Kalispell and Joyce Powell of Libby; a brother, Myron  (Nina) Hagen of Post Falls, Idaho; numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2013, at Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby.
