LDS chapters mark Sept. 11 with projects

| September 11, 2012 1:31 PM

Each year, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints puts together a service project to remember the tragedy of Sept. 11, and this and bring something good out of it.

This year, the church members in Libby held their service project on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 24 and 25, at Jerry Dean Park.

Church members replaced the bolts and boards on the three picnic tables, scraped the paint and repainted the pavilions and tables, trimmed the dead branches, and raked the debris at the park located next to the old McGrade School.

This was an awesome project, and church members look forward to next year in hopes more of the community can participate.

The Troy Branch is conducting its and 9/11 Service Project at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Troy School District.

Service activities will take place at the Troy Junior and Senior High School and the W.F. Morrison Elementary School.

 There will be various projects that will take place, some of them include:

• Clean and seal front entry to high school;

• Paint outside window trim at elementary school;

• Placing stone around Trojan Pole in front of high school;

• Paint outside fire escape stairs;

• Paint exterior gym front doors;

• Stripe parking lot;

• Landscaping — clean out plants behind school, creating a ten open area from building

• In the kitchen, the group is  going to line the drawers and cabinets with covering and organize the kitchen better.

The Troy Branch did their 9/11 service project at the high school last year and did a great job in helping the school look much better.

The community is welcome to come help and participate.
